About
A field notebook for gardeners who like the odd ones
Select la Curiosort began as a shared notebook between a few growers who kept killing — and then learning to grow — the plants nobody else stocked.

What we do
We publish in-depth, practical guides to unusual garden plants: rare flower varieties, strange succulents, exotic-looking foliage, fragrant plants and pollinator-friendly planting. Our focus is on plants a home gardener can realistically buy and grow, with clear notes on difficulty, hardiness and care.
How guides are written
Every guide combines hands-on growing experience with checks against reputable sources: botanic garden collections, horticultural society publications and nursery growers who specialise in the plants concerned. Hardiness figures are given as approximations, because local conditions matter more than any single number.
Our standards
- Independence: no advertising, sponsored posts or affiliate links. Nurseries cannot pay to be mentioned.
- Ethical sourcing: we never recommend wild-collected plants and we flag groups covered by CITES.
- Honesty: if a plant is difficult, short-lived or invasive in some regions, we say so.
- Corrections: errors reported by readers are checked and fixed, and the guide's "updated" date changes.
Who runs the site
The site is published by Curiosort Garden Media Ltd, a small independent company based near Colchester in Essex — a short walk from some of England's driest, most inventive gravel planting. We are gardeners first and editors second.
